Gunnison Valley Health to Host Education Event Focused on Menopause

On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, Gunnison Valley Health is inviting the community to come out for an evening of learning and conversation. “Navigating Menopause” will feature women’s health experts Dr. Deborah Tozer and Joy McElyea who will provide an overview of menopause.

Menopause is a natural part of aging for women but is something that many don’t fully understand or don’t know what to expect. Although each woman’s experience is unique, there are some basics that every woman should know.

Topics will include:

  • The different stages of menopause
  • The signs and symptoms
  • An overview of treatment options
  • A question-and-answer session with the experts

The event will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the South Ballroom on the Campus of Western Colorado University.

Gunnison Valley Health CEO, Jason Amrich, said the event is intended to help women in the community be empowered and informed about their care.

“There are many things related to our health that feel like mysteries or are difficult to discuss,” Amrich said. “I want to provide the community with opportunities for people to learn and ask questions. The more knowledge we have, the better prepared we are to participate in our own care.”
