Board certified oncologist and hematologist Allan Miller, M.D., is the latest addition to Gunnison Valley Health’s recently expanded Cancer Care Center.

Since 2004, Dr. Miller has been treating patients at four different hospitals in the Denver metro area – Ski Ridge, Swedish, Porter and Littleton hospitals.
Since he has recently wrapped up his practice on the Front Range and has owned a second home in Crested Butte for more than 13 years, Dr. Miller has decided to treat all types of cancers and blood diseases right here in Gunnison.

“We are fortunate to have such an experienced and caring doctor join our team of highly qualified caregivers at Gunnison Valley Health,” said Randy Phelps, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health.

Dr. Miller has been practicing for more than 30 years. His education and training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at Indiana University Hospitals and a fellowship at the Beth Israel Hospital at Harvard University. He’s held academic appointments at the Louisiana State University Medical Center and the Indiana University School of Medicine.

He has co-written numerous publications addressing topics such as blood, cancer and hematology. Dr. Miller is also a member of several professional societies, including the American Board of Internal Medicine; the American College of Physicians; the American Federation for Clinical Research; the International Society for Experimental Hematology; and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Miller is joining oncologist Eric Schmidt, M.D., and oncology nurse Chuck Turner at Gunnison Valley Health’s Cancer Care Center, enabling GVH to offer a clinic with one of its visiting oncologists one day of every week.

Dr. Miller will be seeing patients the first three Wednesdays of every month, while Dr. Schmidt will be seeing patients the fourth Tuesday of each month. In addition, patients will still be able to receive treatments from Turner on a daily basis.
