Dr. James Burden is a Board Certified Fellowship Trained physician who
specializes in medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, cataract surgery
and comprehensive ophthalmology. He served for 23 years in the military
including a tour as a Squadron Commander at the Unisted States Air Force
Academy. He completed his military service as the Chairman of the Department
of Surgery and the Director of the Glaucoma Service at Wilford Hall Medical
Center in San Antonio, TX.
Dr. Burden graduated from Erskine College in Due West, SC. He obtained
his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston,
SC and completed his ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical
Center in Washington, DC. At the University of Iowa, Dr. Burden conducted
his glaucoma fellowship training.
Dr. Burden is married and has two children. He has lived or worked in five
states and five countries. Originally from Anderson, South Carolina, he
is happy to call Colorado Springs his home where he and his family can
enjoy outdoor activities including cycling, hiking and skiing.
