To this amazing Gunnison Valley community,
As 2016 draws to a close I think it’s helpful to spend some time
reflecting. Here at Gunnison Valley Health, what have we accomplished?
Where have we been successful? And where are we going?
There is a gentleman named Roy Spence who wrote a book entitled, “It’s
Not What You Sell, It’s What You Stand For.” The message behind
the book is simple, it’s the idea that every successful business
is driven not by a bottom line or a technology or a product, but by a purpose.
At Gunnison Valley Health, I think it’s easy to say what our purpose
is. Simply put, our purpose is each other. We are committed day in and
day out to caring for each other. We are committed to our community; to
our friends and family, to our coworkers, and to our neighbors. That is
community, and that is what we believe in.
At the end of the day, I believe what makes us successful here at Gunnison
Valley Health is that we have lived up to our purpose, that we have identified
those things we stand for and we have pursued them with abandon. Yes,
there are great accomplishments we can point to, there are services we
have rendered, but there is a deeper purpose to everything we do and I
am proud to be a part of a team and an organization that is so dedicated
to that purpose.
In every season I am struck by the beauty of the Gunnison Valley. The brilliant
greens of the valley floor in the spring. The yellows and reds of the
fall. And the majestic mountains looming over it all. Amidst all this
grandeur, all this beauty, the best reaction is one of gratitude.
Gratitude has a profound impact on almost every area of daily life. It
can change the trajectory of a hard day, it can pour over into the lives
of those we come across.
Here at Gunnison Valley Health we have been inviting our employees, and
you the community, to share what you’re grateful for.
Personally, I’m grateful for each and every team member of the Gunnison
Valley Health family. From culinary to environmental services to nurses,
physicians, and life enrichment providers. Every member of our GVH family
works to fulfill that purpose of commitment to each other. I am also grateful
for the opportunity we have as a health system to serve this amazing Gunnison
Valley community. I think I speak for every employee at GVH when I say
that it is a privilege and an honor to work to improve the health of our
Thank you for another wonderful year. Happy holidays to you and your families.
May this be a time of great joy for you. I couldn’t be more grateful
to be a part of such an amazing team and such an amazing community. Look
for more great things from your community health system as we move into 2017.
