New eye care service a hit with the community!
Gunnison Valley Health’s new Ophthalmology service has already proven
popular in the community since opening its doors on Thursday May 17.
One of the first patients to experience the new service is delighted she
does not have to travel far to see an Ophthalmologist.
“I’ve got a history of multiple sclerosis and eye related diseases
in my family,” Sandy said.
“It’s great I don’t have to travel to Junction or Denver
for a specialist appointment, I can stay here in the Valley,” she said.
Sandy is a local resident of the Valley and can’t believe how Gunnison
Valley Health has grown from a small hospital to a complete health system.
“I had my son at the hospital 27 years ago and to see the changes
that have developed with more specialists in town is fantastic,” she said.
Gunnison Valley Health’s Ophthalmologist Dr. Leslie Moskowitz-Elfenbein
MD said the strong forward bookings indicates there is a real need for
an Ophthalmology service in the Valley.
“Examining the eye from a medical point of view and providing treatment
solutions to patients with eye related conditions is my passion,”
said Dr. Leslie Moskowitz-Elfenbein.
“I have already had second home owners who regularly see an Ophthalmologist
in their home town excited to receive the same level of eye care in the
Valley.”
“I’m delighted the community has reacted so positively and
more importantly, do not need to travel to larger cities for eye related
referrals,” she said.
