Kimberly Behounek Discusses Behavioral Health Resources

Behavioral health is an essential part of overall wellness, and Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) is committed to ensuring our community has access to compassionate, timely support. Through a combination of outpatient services, crisis response, and community-based care, GVH Behavioral Health helps individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging moments.

We spoke with Kimberly Behounek LPC, CAS, ACS, Director of Behavioral Health, Gunnison Valley Health, to learn more about available services and how the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline connects people to help, close to home.

What behavioral health services does Gunnison Valley Health offer?

Gunnison Valley Health offers psychotherapy, psychiatric medication management, school-based counseling services, and mobile crisis services. All services are voluntary and outpatient, designed to meet individuals where they are and support mental and emotional wellbeing across the lifespan.

How can someone in a behavioral health crisis get help?

Anyone experiencing a behavioral health crisis, or concerned about a loved one, can call 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Trained behavioral health crisis professionals answer the phone 24/7.

If mobile crisis services are needed, 988 can dispatch local mobile crisis professionals to your location to provide in-person support. You can call for yourself, or on behalf of someone you care about.

For outpatient behavioral health services at GVH, call 970-648-7128.
