Gunnison Valley Health CEO Jason Amrich Recognized Among Rural Health Leaders to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review

Gunnison Valley Health CEO Jason Amrich has been named one of the “118 Rural Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know” in 2025 by Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading national healthcare publication.

The list highlights executives who are shaping the future of rural healthcare by expanding access, improving services and supporting the long-term health of their communities. Amrich was recognized for his leadership of Gunnison Valley Health, a comprehensive rural health system that includes a critical access hospital, specialty clinics, paramedic services and a team of more than 500 employees.

“This recognition is an honor, but it really is a reflection of the incredible team at Gunnison Valley Health,” said Amrich. “We’re all committed to delivering high-quality care to the people of the Gunnison Valley and continuing to invest in services that help our community thrive close to home. I am grateful to have a small but mighty team that is dedicated and willing to step up to the challenges we face.”

Since joining GVH in December of 2021, Amrich has led through several transformational initiatives, including a system-wide transition to the Epic electronic health record platform, the expansion of service lines, and the implementation of surgical robotics and artificial intelligence scribes. He also introduced Lean and just culture practices to strengthen patient safety and accountability and helped spearhead a $12 million capital campaign to fund a new paramedic station.

Under Amrich’s leadership, GVH has earned multiple recognitions for quality and performance, including CMS 5-star ratings, Baby-Friendly designation, awards from the American Heart Association and named in the Besker’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare for 2025.

The Becker’s list notes that these rural hospital CEOs have not only managed their systems through the challenges of the pandemic and staffing shortages, but have also laid the groundwork for long-term growth through innovation, collaboration and community partnership.
