Each May, Gunnison Valley Health joins healthcare organizations across the country in celebrating National Hospital Week—a time to recognize the people, programs and purpose that make exceptional care possible close to home.
At GVH, Hospital Week offers more than a moment of appreciation. It reflects the system’s deep commitment to excellence across every department, from patient care and clinical services to administrative support and facility operations.
Gunnison Valley Health has earned national and statewide recognition for performance, quality and workplace culture in 2024 and 2025, demonstrating the strength of its team and the impact of its mission.
- GVH received the 2024 Performance Leadership Award from the Chartis Center for Rural Health, ranking in the top quartile of rural hospitals nationwide for excellence in patient satisfaction.
- The Family Birth Center earned a score of 96 in the CDC’s Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC) survey, significantly outperforming both Colorado and national averages.
- Spring 2025 GVH was named one of the Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare by Becker’s Hospital Review, a national honor recognizing the organization’s commitment to professional development, workplace engagement and employee well-being.
These achievements, among many others, highlight the collective effort of every individual who contributes to the patient experience. Whether providing direct patient care or working behind the scenes to ensure safety, cleanliness, access and continuity.
“Hospital Week is about more than recognizing clinical excellence—it's about recognizing every person who makes care possible,” said Jason Amrich, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health. “From the patient access team who greets you at the door, to the nurses, EMTs, housekeepers, surgeons, technicians, drivers and administrators—it takes all of us working together to make Gunnison Valley Health a place where patients feel cared for in their community and staff feel proud to serve.”
Looking Ahead
Hospital Week also served as a timely reminder of GVH’s future-facing goals. The newly released 2025–27 Strategic Plan outlines a roadmap for improving community health outcomes, advancing value-based care and expanding access to critical services for the Gunnison Valley.
As GVH continues to evolve to meet local needs, Hospital Week underscores one constant: the dedication of the people who show up every day with compassion, skill and an unwavering commitment to their community.
