Gunnison Valley Health Names New Chief Financial Officer

Gunnison Valley Health (GVH) announces appointment of Nathan G. Blad as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With over 20 years of experience in healthcare finance and executive leadership, Nathan brings a strong commitment to advancing rural healthcare and ensuring sustainable, high-quality services for communities like ours.

Nathan has held senior leadership roles across both finance and operations, including serving as CFO and CEO of Renville County Hospital & Clinics in Minnesota. There, he oversaw the development of a new $24 million medical center and led significant service expansions in orthopedic surgery, dialysis, urgent care, and telehealth.

Most recently, Nathan worked with HealthPartners, a Minnesota-based healthcare organization, where he played a key role in advancing value-based care strategies aimed at improving outcomes while controlling costs.

Nathan holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.

Outside of his professional life, Nathan enjoys fly fishing, hiking, camping, and playing guitar. He and his family are excited to join the Gunnison community and fully embrace the outdoor lifestyle the valley offers.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Gunnison Valley Health,” said Nathan. “I look forward to working with the talented team here to strengthen financial performance, expand access to care, and support the long-term sustainability of this community-owned health system.”

Jason Amrich, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health, shared his enthusiasm about Nathan’s arrival and the path ahead:

“We’re excited to welcome Nathan aboard at a critical time,” stated Amrich. “Rural healthcare faces increasing operational strains and financial uncertainty. Challenges like fluctuating reimbursement rates and rising expenses require strong, strategic leadership. Nathan is an excellent addition to our executive team—his proven ability to strengthen rural health systems, optimize revenue cycle performance, and lead financial transformation will be instrumental as we improve billing processes, boost sustainability, and ensure GVH remains strong for years to come. With a solid foundation already in place, we’re well-positioned to move forward.”
