circulation in the arms and legs. It can also evaluate arteries or veins
in nearly any part of the body. Vascular ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure
which means that needles, dyes, radiation or anesthesia are not required.
During a vascular ultrasound, sound waves measure the amount of blood flow
in your blood vessels to help identify blockages in the arteries and veins
and detect blood clots. Ultrasound has no known harmful effects to your
body and provides images of soft tissues that don't show up on x-ray images.
