The Medical Pathways Program is a free, hands-on opportunity for high school
students, grades 9-12 who are interested in a career in healthcare. This
program is hosted and lead by Gunnison Valley Health staff members who
are invested in the future of healthcare, and fostering our local talent.
What the Program Offers
Students will explore a wide range of healthcare careers — clinical,
technical, and administrative. Each session will rotate through multiple
departments such as Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Nursing, Supply Chain,
Radiology, Primary Care, Human Resources, Laboratory, Behavioral Health,
Medical Coding, Rehabilitation, Respiratory Therapy, Senior Care Center,
and many more.
Learn real-world skills and understand the training or education needed
for each specialty.
Hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes experiences, networking opportunities,
and the chance to talk directly with healthcare professionals about their
career paths.
Build relationships with GVH staff, which can lead to future
shadowing, CNA class opportunities, internships, and employment opportunities.
Gain confidence in whether a healthcare career is the right fit for you.
Students and parents are encouraged to attend the Medical Pathways
information night on December 10, 2025 at Gunnison Valley Health.
Requirements & Commitment
Open to all local students in grades 9–12.
Free to participate; space is limited and preregistration is required.
Students must commit to attending all sessions.
A short
HIPAA training video is required before participation and can be viewed below.
Gunnison Valley Health is bound by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act) Privacy Rules. These national standards protect
individual medical records and other personal health information. Please
