In January 2022, Gunnison Valley Health will host low cost blood testing events in Gunnison and Crested Butte. The events are a part of the health system’s community wellness initiatives as well as an opportunity for people in the Gunnison Valley to access affordable health screenings.

Gunnison Valley Health’s Marketing and Communications Director, Joelle Ashley, said that while the return of the events is something to celebrate, there are format changes people can expect.

“We are thrilled to have the ability to once again provide this important service to our community,” Ashley said. “We are working hard to ensure that the events are safe and convenient and appreciate everyone’s patience as we make some changes to the format of our wellness events. We are asking the community to wear a mask at the events and social distancing measures will be in place for those waiting for testing.”

The Gunnison blood draw is happening January 20, 21 and 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Fred Field Center. The Crested Butte event will take place the following week on January 27, 28 and 29 at the Queen of All Saints Parish Hall from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m.

While walk-ins are welcome at both events, pre-registration is encouraged. Pre-registering will help people move through the blood draw process faster, will help to decrease crowd sizes and help to keep everyone safe.

Registration is currently open, but will close at 4 p.m. the day prior to each event. Registration is available online at www.gunnisonvalleyhealth.org/wellness or by calling 1-800-217-5866. Phone registration is available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Providing affordable access to these annual screenings is a key component to good health,” Ashley said. “I am grateful for the support of the Gunnison Valley Health staff and our community as we continue to work on our community wellness initiatives. I am excited to have the opportunity to see you all in January.”
