Gunnison Valley Health Announces Nicole Huff as Chief Nursing Officer

Gunnison Valley Health recently announced that Nicole Huff, MBA, MSN, RN, CEN, has been promoted to the role of Chief Nursing Officer. Huff joined Gunnison Valley Health in 2021 as Emergency Department Director and has been acting as the interim Chief Nursing Officer since July 2022.

“Throughout her tenure at Gunnison Valley Health, Nicole has demonstrated excellent leadership and is well respected within the health system,” said Jason Amrich, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health. Amrich went on to say, “Nicole has been a key leader for several quality improvement projects and inspires her staff to perform at the highest level possible. I am confident that she will be a strong leader and an integral member of my executive team.”

Huff’s achievements at Gunnison Valley Health include implementation of the acute stroke-ready program, standardizing sepsis protocols and developing the emergency services department “float pool.” Establishing the float pool has been instrumental in standardizing care and processes in the Emergency Department, Mountain Clinic and Urgent Care Clinic.

Prior to joining Gunnison Valley Health, Huff worked in a variety of healthcare settings and roles including in a level I trauma center and a rural critical access hospital.

“The diversity of her background paired with her drive for continuous improvement makes her the right person to oversee nursing practice across the health system,” Amrich said.

“I am so grateful to be given this opportunity to serve the Gunnison Valley in the Chief Nursing Officer role. I am proud to call the Gunnison Valley home, and I am even more excited to be a part of the Gunnison Valley Health system,” said Huff. “I am so appreciative that the hiring committee chose me for this position, and I look forward to working on continuous improvement within the health system.”

Huff’s leadership will help Gunnison Valley Health continue improving and growing clinical services within the health system.
