Gunnison Valley Health Foundation Announces Launch of the Guardian Angel Program

The Gunnison Valley Health Foundation recently announced the launch its Guardian Angel Program. The Guardian Angel Program is an opportunity for grateful patients and their loved ones to donate to a healthcare cause in honor of a caregiver who had an impact on them during their visit or stay in a Gunnison Valley Health facility.

Gunnison Valley Health Foundation Board of Directors Chair, Carol May, said the new program gives people the opportunity thank a caregiver by supporting the future of the health system.

“We hear constant feedback from our community that the care they receive from Gunnison Valley Health is exceptional,” May said. “The Guardian Angel Program is an opportunity to say thank you in a way that has a tangible impact on all the caregivers in the health system.”

According to Gunnison Valley Health Foundation Executive Director, Jenny Birnie, the Guardian Angel Program evolved from the Foundation’s Grateful Patient Program.

“Our Grateful Patient Program was an opportunity for people to share their experiences and acknowledge the people who provided their care,” Birnie said. “What we found was that people wanted to do more than share their story - they wanted a way to directly support healthcare workers.”

The Gunnison Valley Health Foundation enhances the health system by providing resources to support the mission and strategic goals of Gunnison Valley Health. Individuals who choose to honor a guardian angel have the option to choose a specific service or project to be supported by their donation.

“The Guardian Angel program allows our generous donors to say thank you and support the future of the services that mean the most to them.” Birnie said.
