Dr. Kathleen Gentry

Dr. Gentry holds an Associate of Arts degree in Business from the University of Arkansas, a Global Business Professional Certificate, a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, a Tropical Medicine Certificate from John Hopkins University, and a Masters in Global Public Health from George Washington University. She became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1985 and was honored as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists in 1989.

Her work experience includes 8 years as a Medical Technologist at Cox and Mercy Hospital Systems in Missouri, Parkland Hospital in Dallas, the American Red Cross and was a nuclear medicine researcher for Warner Lambert, assisting in the development of one of the first nuclear diagnostic kits for diabetes. She also performed early research on fibrinogen at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After becoming a dentist, she was a private practitioner in Ft. Worth, Texas where she served as a Member of the Board of the Tarrant County Dental Society and Delegate to the Texas Dental Association and American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Gentry was a private dental practitioner in Crested Butte for 10 years before retiring in 2003. Since then, she has worked in the area of public health in Thailand, Cambodia and the Gunnison Valley. Her focus in public health has been in Health Communications, Program Development, Monitoring and Evaluations and Early Childhood Development and of course, dental health.

Dr. Kathleen Gentry has resided in Crested Butte for the past 21 years. She is past President of the Rotary Club of Crested Butte and Assistant District Governor. Her daughter, a Biochemist, is currently finishing a Degree in Medical Technology from Mesa State University in Grand Junction, Colorado.
