Paid Time Off

Gunnison Valley Health currently provides PTO for Full and Part Time employees under benefit code “P”. All other statuses, such as PRN and Temporary employees, are currently not eligible to accrue PTO for the purposes of vacation, holidays or personal days; however, they accrue “N” time. The details in which an employee can utilize each benefit are outlined in the policy. Both “P” time and “N” time both meet the requirements of the Colorado Healthy Families Workplaces Act.

“N” time Accumulation for PRN and Temporary Employees:

At the beginning of employment in a PRN or Temporary position, employees will begin accruing “N” time at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. “N” time will accrue up to a maximum accrual of 48 hours. Unused “N” hours are carried over from year to year up to 48 hours so they can be accumulated and used when needed. Employees will not accrue additional “N” time until the balance falls below 48 hours. Employees are not able to use more than 48 hours of “N” time in a year. “N” time is available for reasons 1-5 listed below in the policy.

“P” time Accrual for Full-time and Part-Time Employees:

“P” time combines traditional vacation and sick time plans into one flexible, paid time off program. This is accrued and documented using benefit code “P” and can be used for reasons 1-8 listed below in the policy.
