Important Update to the Gunnison Early Blood Testing Events

Due to rising rates of COVID and the related impacts on staffing at Gunnison Valley Health, we have made the difficult decision to limit our numbers at the Gunnison Early Blood Draw events. (Please note, at this time we are not limiting the Crested Butte events.) We believe this is necessary to reduce crowd sizes, ensure safe distancing and move people efficiently through the process.

The changes are for the Gunnison events only:

  • No walk-ins will be accepted on Thursday (1/20) and Friday (1/21).
    • You must pre-register for an appointment on these days. Please do not arrive earlier than five minutes prior to your scheduled time.
  • Pre-registrations will be limited to 200 people on Thursday and Friday.
    • Currently, all slots are filled. If there are changes to circumstances that allow us to accommodate more people, we will open slots and make an announcement on our website.
  • Walk-ins will be accepted on Saturday (1/22).
  • Pre-registrations will be limited to 100 people on Saturday.
    • Currently, all slots are filled. If there are changes to circumstances that allow us to accommodate more people, we will open slots and make an announcement on our website.
  • Properly worn face masks will be required for all people attending the blood draw events. This applies to both the Gunnison and Crested Butte events.
  • All attendees will be screened prior to entering the building. If you are sick, please stay home. This applies to both the Gunnison and Crested Butte events.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our community. We understand the importance of these blood draws. Our priority is to do everything possible to ensure the events take place even if that means in a limited capacity. We know that the lack of a low cost blood testing option for the past two years has placed a burden on some community members and we are committed to ensuring that future events are able to accommodate every person in need of testing.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have questions about the events, please contact Joelle Ashley at jashley@gvh-colorado.org or 970-642-8417.
