Gunnison Valley Health Announces Plan to Bring Pediatrics to Crested Butte

Gunnison Valley Health plans to expand pediatric services in Crested Butte and will start scheduling appointments with Dr. Amanda Hill for late summer 2022. Dr. Hill is a board-certified pediatrician who joined Gunnison Valley Health’s Family Medicine Clinic in March.

Gunnison Valley Health CEO, Jason Amrich, said that this is the first step in a broader plan to make access to health care easier for people living in the north end of the valley.

“Although Gunnison Valley Health offers a diverse array of services, we recognize that it can be more difficult for those living outside of Gunnison to take advantage of all the health system has to offer,” Amrich said. “Having convenient access to primary care is foundational to maintaining good health. We are starting with Pediatrics and Dr. Hill, and fully intend to expand the scope of offerings in the future.”

Dr. Hill is a board-certified pediatrician with many years of experience in both outpatient and hospital settings. She received her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Colorado. Prior to joining the Family Medicine Clinic, Dr. Hill worked as the primary pediatrician for Grand Valley Pediatrics in Grand Junction. Her practice included both outpatient care and care of patients at Community Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Dr. Hill believes this expansion will make it easier for parents to access specialized care for children of all ages.

“Not only can families who are currently traveling to Gunnison have appointments closer to home, it will remove barriers for families who have more difficulty traveling for appointments,” Hill said. “Ultimately, I hope to have the opportunity to begin seeing even more children who call our north valley communities home.”

Families who wish to get established with Dr. Hill prior to launch of the Crested Butte clinic should contact the Gunnison Valley Health Family Medicine Clinic.

“We don’t want families to delay preventative care and encourage anyone interested in scheduling with Dr. Hill to make an appointment at the Gunnison clinic,” Amrich said. “It will be a seamless process for patients to transition from visits in Gunnison to visits in Crested Butte.”
