Staff Highlight - Dr. Ann Treisman, MD, PHD

The hospitalist team at Gunnison Valley Health are the physicians that oversee inpatient care in the Patient Care Unit. The newest member of the team is Dr. Ann Treisman, MD, PHD.

Treisman attended the University of Chicago and received her master’s degree and her PhD in mathematics. She then taught mathematics for eight years before changing careers. Treisman went on to attend the University of Colorado, Anschutz, to complete med school. Treisman graduated her residency program in September. While completing residency, Treisman worked one shift a month at Gunnison Valley Health. She feels fortunate to have gotten the position following graduation.

Gunnison Valley Health CEO, Jason Amrich, said that Treisman’s experience and ties to the community will bring value to the health system.  

“Dr. Treisman is a talented hospitalist,” said Gunnison Valley Health CEO, Jason Amrich. “We are excited to have her expertise on our team. We also are excited we could hire a local who is already connected to the community.”

Treisman moved to the Gunnison Valley in 2011 to teach mathematics at Western Colorado University. Treisman and her husband enjoy everything Gunnison has to offer including rock climbing, running bird watching, and being with her family.

Treisman is passionate about helping patients in the Gunnison Valley.

“I really enjoy what I do,” said Treisman. “I love who I work for, and who I work with. I am excited to give back to the Gunnison Valley. This job felt serendipitous, and I am so glad I get to be a part of Gunnison Valley Health.”
