A Message from the Executive DirectorJenny-Birnie

2021 was an incredible year for the GVH Foundation in which we achieved several significant milestones. We acquired 137 new donors, executed a hugely successful, sold out gala at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte, raised $4.4 million in donations and pledges for the new emergency medical services (EMS) station and supported the development of a new behavioral health service line that started providing services in July.

The GVH Foundation also made great strides in completing many strategic initiatives in our strategic plan including increased visibility of Gunnison Valley Health and the Foundation in the community, solid execution of best practice nonprofit principles and adoption of strong development practices.

The mission of the GVH Foundation is simple: To support Gunnison Valley Health in the delivery of high quality healthcare in Gunnison County and the surrounding areas. I am pleased to share that we raised more money in 2021 than previous years which allowed us to develop and sustain critical programs including women’s health care, behavioral health, paramedic services, concussion screening, hospice, senior services and so much more.

I am humbled by the incredible support of our community that has enabled us to be one of the best rural healthcare systems in the country. Gunnison Valley Health truly embraces an integrated health care model that allows our community to live a healthy lifestyle so we can enjoy all that the Gunnison Valley has to offer.

Our GVH team continues to meet the extraordinary challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with selfless dedication to protect our residents and patients during uncertain times. It continues to be my honor to work for an organization that leads with integrity and employs people who are dedicated to providing extraordinary care to the members of our community.

With gratitude,

Jenny Birnie, M.S.W.
