Ophthalmology Services at Gunnison Valley Health.
We provide comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. Our Ophthalmologists,
who are medical doctors, can diagnose, treat and perform surgical procedures
on a range of eye related conditions including:
- Autoimmune diseases
- Dry eye
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic eye disease
- Macular degeneration
- Cataracts
Our doctors can even diagnose eye melanoma and brain tumors before they
become an issue.
Regular medical eye exams are an invaluable in maintaining your eyes’
health by detecting and preventing disease. Some diseases develop slowly
without causing pain or vision loss. Early detection of any problems can
reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options.
Our services include:
- Complete eye medical exams weekly on a Thursday, except the fourth week
of the month is on a Tuesday
- Cataract surgery once a month
What we're doing to keep you safe:

Symptom Screening: All individuals who enter the South entrance of the hospital will be screened
for symptoms, must wear a mask, sanitize their hands and temperature is taken.

Infection Control: After each patient visit, the exam room and all of the equipment is thoroughly cleaned.

Patient Scheduling: One-on-one patient scheduling to ensure each patients exam is completely
finished before a new exam begins.

Protection: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by Dr. Leslie Moskowitz-Elfenbein
and our healthcare staff to ensure you are protected.
Meet our Ophthalmologists:
Dr. Leslie Moskowitz - Elfenbein, MD
Dr. Leslie Moskowitz -Elfenbein is a Board Certified General Ophthalmologist
with 17 years of experience treating patients for a variety of conditions.
Her clinical interests include anterior segment, medical retina, ophthalmic
lasers, and medical diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Moskowitz-Elfenbein
also performed cataract surgery for 15 years, but currently practices
medical Ophthalmology.
Dr. Moskowitz – Elfenbein graduated with a Major in Biological Sciences,
magna cum laude, from Brandeis University in Waltham Massachusetts. She earned her Medical
Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University
in New York and then completed a one year medical internship at Winthrop
University Hospital in Mineola, New York. Dr. Moskowitz-Elfenbein completed
her Ophthalmology Residency at Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine. She is Board Certified by the American Board
of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Moskowitz-Elfenbein was in private practice at Hudson Valley Eye Surgeons
in Fishkill, New York for 16 years before relocating to Colorado. She
is excited to bring her experience to the Gunnison Valley and looks forward
to bringing Ophthalmology to Gunnison Valley Health.
